Questions
Longevity test FAQs.
Do I need a GP referral?
No. You can book any test directly. If you’re unsure which one is right, book the free 15-minute call first.
Where are the tests done?
At Northwest Health, 3–4 Dollywaggon Way, Bamber Bridge, Preston PR5 6EW, just off the M6 and M61. Blood tests take a few minutes. The Functional Age Check takes about 30 minutes.
Do I need to fast?
Not for the Functional Age Check, suPAR, NAD⁺ or Lp(a). For the extended longevity panel, fasting for 8 to 10 hours (water only) is best. We confirm this when you book.
Which test should I start with?
For most people, the Functional Age Check and a one-off Lp(a) test give the most useful, actionable information for the money. suPAR and NAD⁺ suit people who want to track change over time.
What does “limited evidence” mean?
The test measures something real and interesting, but it hasn’t yet been shown that screening healthy people with it, and acting on the result, helps them live longer or healthier.
Will my NHS GP see the results?
Only if you want them to. With your permission we can send a summary.
What if a result is abnormal?
A doctor will explain what it means and the next steps. That might be a repeat test, lifestyle changes, or a suggestion to see your own GP or a specialist.
Can I do these as part of a full programme?
Yes. Our preventive health programmes combine the most useful tests with doctor and physiotherapy time and a written plan. See northwestlongevity.co.uk.
